Yes, Taran did... and he still does in his own way. With Cedric he hasn't. I guess because he is mature enough to know better. He and D'Anna have there little sibling rivalry even to this day, but it's getting better. I think the way you are handling it with Jake and Maddy will be better than the way I was able to so there is hope. It sounds like you have a good system so far. That's the way I would have liked to have handled it for Taran and D'Anna. Hind sight is 20/20. Like I said before, I didn't have the resorces you have, and that seems to make a difference. The best of luck. I love how you guys are so comitted to your family and in the long run it will show. Here's to the long fight of parenting!

Josh and I have been trying to switch off caring for Maddy so that we can each spend some one on one time with him. Last night Josh colored with Jakob for a long time and this morning I did the same. We also sat down and talked with him about how he is feeling last night. He has really been acting out lately and seriously not listening. It is so frustrating. Hopefully it will pass soon. He is certainly starting to come around and connect with his sister.

Oh, we also told him, even before she was born, that we are going to get one of the grandparents to watch her when that new Pixar movie Walle comes out. Jakob has been waiting for that movie for forever and one of our family members got us 3 movie tickets so that we can take him in June. He is so excited about that. It will be a nice time for him to get out with just Josh & I for a little bit.

Did Taran act out and quit listening when D'Anna was born?

The only advice I can give is to reasure him that you haven't forgoten him and that even though things are changing he is still special and not replaced. Maybe having Mommy and son day or a few hours of one on one time may help. I wish I could have had the opportunity to do that for Taran. Unfortunatly with out any one to take D'Anna for even just a few hours when she was born, I wasn't able to do that. That could be why he had a lot of jealousy towards her then and even to this day they don't get along. You just have to do your best and hope for the best.

It is true about the secound one learning everything from the older one. D'Anna and Cedric learned things quicker and learned more and not all of it was good. LOL!

Anyway, I'm sure you'll know how to make each one of them feel special and you'll do well. It helps that you know what it's like to have siblings, unlike me. I had to just wing it. Good luck on your next adventure as a parent.

My Mom says that the second child learns faster because they learn so much from the older sibling. Lets just hope it's all good. I haven't yet pondered that terrifying experience as a parent! One step at a time. For now I am doing all I can to try to unite. Jakob is doing better with his sister everyday. It's so strange looking at him now. I see how much he has grown when I compare him and Madison. Time sure does fly. Kids are such a precious and wonderful part of life! They really teach you what unconditional love is.

It's difficult for the big kid to adjust to a new addition in the family. I say that with experience. He'll come around though... he'll forget about his daily routines with the parents and replace it with things that he teaches his sibling. That could be a good or bad thing... for now. Once he gets into school, and brings things back to teach her it will be a bad thing. lol.

I'm so happy for you, Tina. I can't wait to see how she develops through your blog pics.

He has had such a rough week. He really didn't deal well with Josh & I being at the hospital so the second night I had him stay with us at the hospital and then I did everything I could to get released the next day. He is definitely jealous. He feels like he lost his place. It's so hard as a parent to watch him transition through this. He is starting to come along with his sister.

This morning was a tough one. I am not aloud to lift anything heavier than the baby. Jakob and I have had a morning ritual for ever where I pick him up out of bed, bring him to the couch and get him his breakfast. Then I turn on a movie or a video game for him. This is how he wakes up every day. This morning I got out of bed holding Madison and he just started sobbing and saying "You forgot me". I just about broke down and cried for him. Josh and I are just working hard to make sure he feels included and that Madison is not replacing him but is an addition to our family.

Oh, I can't forget he loves to start his sisters swing and show her his Transformers catalog. He is sure to let me know which ones she wants for Christmas!

I feel the need to be more specific about that last part of my comment. I'm anal like that, and since I can't go back an edit it I'll just ask:

Has he shown any signs of jealousy?

What a cutie!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the name... Madison Brooke. It's a strong name.

Grats on not naming your daughter Haylee (that's an inside joke that Dina and I have... It's my theory that every baby girl that is born in this generation is named Haylee).

You're lucky that your mother-in-law doesn't give your kids her own middle name like Dina's mother does. You know what she calls Cedric? Cedric Jonothan... blech. HIS NAME IS CEDRIC RYAN!!!!!!! Taran Howard is Taran David, and D'Anna Skie is... wiat for it... D'Anna Renee. What a crap name on that last one. Sheesh...

Wait... where am I? Oh yeah, I'm on your site, and this is about your daughter. Sorry.

Congratulations Tina! Send us some more pics when you can. Jakob looks so cute holding her. What does he think of his new competition?
